the first working day after the holiday

The first working day after the holiday: cruel. Does not have to be!

You also know that for sure: you enjoy the holiday, free from the stress and hectic of everyday work. But the more the holiday is coming to an end, the more frequently working ideas are pushed into the front row. Above all, the thought of the first working day after the holiday is not associated with much anticipation for many.

And then comes the inevitable day, back in the office - one would like to flee again:

  • an overflowing e-mail inbox,
  • umpteen messages on the answering machine,
  • a full postbox
  • ...

The phone is always ringing, because everyone knows about your return (by answering machine, absence email, colleagues, etc.) and of course something urgently needed. The recovery gained by the holiday is lost again in one fell swoop.

Holiday is over! It goes back to everyday work ...

That does not have to be!

If possible, always state your return from vacation one day later. This gives you a whole day to "get used to working" again because everyone still suspects you on vacation.

You can work on your e-mails in peace - and if you reply to e-mails, then you send the answer with a time delay, so that no one notices that you are already in the office.

Make your mail, edit your emails, answer calls on the answering machine. Nobody bothers.

And then you can start quietly the next day, that day on which you are officially back from vacation for everyone else.

Officially also start a day earlier on vacation

Similar to how to prepare for your return, you can also start your holiday:

So activate the absence message one day earlier, as well as the answering machine, so that you are officially on vacation for external and not available anymore. So you can work through the last working day before the start of the holiday in peace, all pending tasks without being constantly interrupted from the outside.
